Annoying “Beep” on every key press
Another easy solution here!
My friend’s laptop (a Sony Vaio) had an annoying little problem. His laptop beeped everytime he pressed a key. Well, its not that it beeped when HE pressed any key, it beeped when ANYONE pressed a key on it (lame? yeah, I know)
So I spent an hour yesterday searching for the problem and stumbled upon the solution just when I was about to call it quits. A few of the things I tried are listeed below. If you have the same problem, one of the following ought to work for you.
1. Right Click on Sounds Icon (in the taskbar) and select Sounds. Now select “No sounds” from the drop down menu. Apply and exit. If the problem persists, read next point, else skip them.
2. There was a guy who found a setting “Keyboard Click” in his BIOS settings (the settings which are found when your PC starts and you enter the configuration menu). As far as I know, this particular setting is found in Dell not found in Sony laptops and, Don’t know about the others.
3. If the above two methods didn’t kickass, here’s another one. Right click on My Computer and select Manage. Now, go to Device Manager. In the View menu above, select Show Hidden Devices. An entry by the name of Non Plug and Play Devices. In this, you’ll find an entry Beep. Double click this, and select Disable from the drop-down menu. Restart the PC and hopefully you’ll get rid of the beeps.
4. Now the last method. This is the one that worked for me. Go to Control Panel -> Accessibility (or Ease of Access) and ensure the Filter Keys are on. Now click on Set up Filter Keys. There you’ll find an entry known as Beep when key pressed and accepted. If it is selected, de-select it.
One of these methods will certainly work for you and get rid of the goddamned beeps
